Police: Walmart Market Employee Sold Alcohol to a Minor

Police conducted an undercover operation on Friday, September 13; arrests also reported in Hicksville and Farmingdale.

Nassau County Police have reported the arrest of three people for selling alcohol to a minor during a "Project 21" undercover operation on Friday, September 13.

An underage agent entered three locations, including the Walmart Market in Levittown and the Levittown Deli in Hicksville, and purchased alcohol without being properly identified, according to police.


Police reported the following arrests:

Belal A. Al-waqedi, 27, of Uniondale sold alcohol to a minor while working at Levittown Deli, 149-151 Levittown Parkway, Hicksville.

Aliah M. Lofton, 18, of Uniondale sold alcohol to a minor while working at Walmart Market at 3335 Hempstead Turnpike, Levittown.

Erick E. Landaverde, 33, of Farmingdale sold alcohol to a minor while working at Quick Mart at 756 Main Street, South Farmingdale.

The undercover operation was conducted jointly by the Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP) and the Plainclothes Enforcement Patrol (PEP).

All three defendants are charged with first degree unlawfully dealing with a child and prohibited sale of alcoholic beverage.

Al-waqedi and Lofton were both released on Desk Appearance Tickets. They are due to appear on Monday, September 23, 2013 at First District Court. Landaverde will be arraigned on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at First District Court in Hempstead.
