UPDATE: Schools on Lockout Due to Nearby Police Situation

Kenneth Lack, commanding officer for the Nassau County Police Department Public Information Office, has confirmed that the suspect has been taken into custody and will be brought to the Nassau University Medical Center for evaluation.

According to Levittown School District officials, the lockout has been lifted at Summit Lane Elementary School and Division Avenue High School. According to a Nassau County Police public information officer, the hostage situation which prompted the lockout 'remains the same.'

As hostage negotiators deal with a situation on Carriage Lane in Levittown, two nearby schools were placed on lockout status for precautionary measures.

According to Levittown School District officials, Summit Lane Elementary School and Division Avenue High School are on lockout.

Island Trees Superintendent Charles Murphy said his schools will not be going on lockdown since police have advised them that the "issue is contained to the house."

Nassau County Police and Bureau of Special Operations personnel remain on the scene.
