Seaford Child Responsible for Truck Crash in Levittown

The 12-year-old autistic child was found after being reported missing earlier in the day.

A 12-year-old autistic child was arrested by Nassau County police after allegedly crashing a truck on the front lawn of a Carnation Road home in Levittown early Saturday evening.

At approximately 5 p.m., the boy reportedly entered an unlocked all-purpose construction vehicle with the keys left inside. According to detectives, the child then started the truck and proceeded to drive it. He then allegedly crashed into two parked cars along Carnation Road before coming to a stop in front of 41 Carnation Road.

The Seaford resident was reported missing from his home during the day Saturday, according to detectives.

The 12-year-old is being charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in the third degree. The juvenile defendant, who was released from custody to his father, will appear in family court on Oct. 17.
