Woman Arrested for String of TD Bank Robberies

Trio of defendants arrested Thursday night after bank robbery in Roslyn Heights; Police say woman is responsible for bank robbery in Wantagh and other Nassau County locations.

Three people were arrested Thursday night after a bank robbery in Roslyn Heights, one of whom was connected to a string of six Nassau County TD Bank robberies that began back in January.

According to Nassau County detectives, at approximately 8 p.m. Thursday, Monique Davis, 36, and Anthony Brown, 24, both with no known address, entered the TD Bank at 111 Mineola Ave. in Roslyn Heights. Davis attempted to conduct a transaction and when asked for identification she demanded money from the teller.

After obtaining more than $1,000, police said Davis and Brown fled the scene on foot southbound on Mineola Avenue.

The duo was located by police at Mineola Avenue and Lambert Street a short time later, police said. Davis resisted arrest requiring several officers to place her into custody.

At the time of the robbery three employees were present and no injuries were reported.

Prior to fleeing the Roslyn Heights' bank, Brown was in cell phone contact with Charles Sutton, 37 of Patchogue, who was driving a 2013 Hyundai. Sutton was stopped in his vehicle on Mineola Avenue and presented officers with a New Jersey driver’s license with a false name. He was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a stun gun.

Further investigation by robbery squad detectives determined that Davis was responsible for the following robberies:

    •    TD Bank at 999 Old Country Road New Cassel on Jan. 24, 2013
    •    TD Bank at 1600 Hempstead Turnpike East Meadow on Jan. 27, 2013
    •    TD Bank at 3222 Sunrise Highway Wantagh on Jan. 27, 2013
    •    TD Bank at 855 Franklin Avenue Garden City on Jan. 30, 2013
    •    TD Bank at 999 Old Country Road New Cassel on Feb. 7, 2013

Davis was charged with four counts of robbery in the second degree, two counts of robbery in the third degree and resisting arrest.

Brown was charged with robbery in the second degree.

Sutton was charged with robbery in the second degree, possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and a vehicle and traffic law violation.

They will all be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Friday.
