A 28-year-old woman was injured after being struck by a car on Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown Monday night, police said.
The woman was walking in front of the Tri-County Flea Market when she was hit by a dark sedan at 10:30 p.m. which fled the scene, according to police.
The woman complained of back, neck and body pain, and an ambulance from the Levittown Fire Department took her to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, police said. Her injuries are non-life threatening.
A recent report rated Hempstead Turnpike as the most dangerous road in the region. A total of 15 pedestrians were killed along Hempstead Turnpike between the years of 2008 and 2010, the report said.
Additionally, a Levittown teen was killed crossing Hempstead Turnpike near Division Avenue in April.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
