King Says Republican Party 'Is Going Nuts'

Local Congressman continues to slam his own party.

With the U.S. government teetering on the brink of default, Rep. Peter King unleashed on his own party once again Tuesday.

After a plan put together by House leaders was scrapped at the urging of tea party members, the Seaford Republican told the Huffington Post: "This party is going nuts. So many people I run into who are normal people -- and I hate to use that term -- they just can't understand what's going on."

King added: "On this one they can't even see both sides. They just think Republicans are crazy. That's it. They see no justification for any of this."

King is no fan of Obamacare, but he told Patch earlier this month that shutting down the government was not the way to do it.

"You don't try to shut the government down if you don't get what you want," he said.
