has been ranked No. 79 and No. 146 in the U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools in New York rankings.
MacArthur also ranked as No. 622 nationally, according to the report. The rankings are determined based on college readiness, math and English proficiency, and student-to-teacher ratio.
Students at MacArthur were graded with a college readiness of 41.3, above the New York average. Math proficiency was scored 3.7 out of 4, while English received a 3.6, both above the state average. The average class size is listed as 13:1, which is near the state average.
At Division, students received a college readiness score of 28.7, near the state average. Math proficiency was ranked 3.5, while English scored 3.6, and the average class size is listed as 11:1, below the state average.
The announcement was made at Tuesday night's Board of Education meeting and was met with applause from the crowd.
“Congrats to both high schools, it’s a well deserved honor," said Board President Michael Pappas.
