Division High School Principal to Leave for Harborfields Position

Current assistant principal to take over; Superintendent reacts to the announcement.

Division Avenue High School Principal Dr. Francesco Ianni has accepted a position as Assistant Superintendent in the Harborfields School District, with current Division Assistant Principal Joan Lorelli to take his position, the school board recently announced.

Ianni said it was a hard decision to leave. He said he has a deep affection for the teachers, students and parents, so saying goodbye has been "extremely difficult." He was named principal at Division in 2010.
"I enjoyed a positive and enthusiastic atmosphere here at Division. The students’ commitment to excellence brought the school to one of its highest points in the history of Division Avenue. Our advance placement participation has  improved tremendously, our regents mastery rate has increased and the graduation rate is near its pinnacle.

Overall, there is a vivid sense of school pride throughout the building that has, no doubt, contributed to the numerous awards bestowed upon Division Avenue.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the central administration and the board of education for all their support over the past three years.  It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the Levittown community," Ianni said.

Levittown Schools Superintendent Dr. James Grossane said the district is saddened to see Ianni leave, but wishes him all the best.

“We understand that his new position as Assistant Superintendent in the Harborfields Public Schools is an advancement for him,” Grossane said.

“He has been a true leader at Division Avenue High School and his many contributions to the school and district will leave a lasting impression for years to come,” Grossane added. “His scholarship, leadership and devotion to our students will be greatly missed.”

Taking over for Ianni is Lorelli, the current assistant principal at Division and former assistant principal at MacArthur High School.

“Mrs. Lorelli is an experienced administrator in our district,” Grossane said.  “She has been a key member of Dr. Ianni’s leadership team.  We are confident that Mrs. Lorelli will not only continue many of the fine initiatives already in place, but that she will spearhead many more programs that will bring the students of Division Avenue HS to even greater achievements.”
