South Levittown Lanes will host a fundraiser for Spc. Daniel Fuentes this Saturday.
Fuentes, an Island Trees graduate, was killed on April 6, 2007 during his first deployment in Iraq at age 19.
Fuentes enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after his 2005 high school graduation and was deployed out of Fort Riley, Kansas. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team and 1st Infantry Division.
After his death, his parents set up "The Daniel Fuentes Memorial Scholarship Fund." They have also held numerous fundraisers in his memory.
One fundraiser took place at Island Trees Middle School last June. The Island Trees wrestling team also held a dual meet tournament in his honor in January of 2011.
Saturday's event begins at 7:30 p.m. Donations of $20 per person pay for three hours of bowling, pizza and soda.
