Island Trees Boys Soccer Players Honored at Awards Dinner

Team receives Nassau County Sportsmanship Award.

Seven members of the Island Trees HS boys soccer team enjoyed a nice dinner at the Marriott on Dec. 4 with their families, celebrating both academic and athletic achievements along with the rest of Nassau County Soccer's elite members.

Five seniors received awards. All-Conference honors went to Jon Rivera, Ted Connelly, Devin Gaudiello, and Andrew Barbine. Jose Carvajal received All-County and Conference A-7 MVP.

Sophomores Ryan Willoughby and Dylan Cranmer received All-County Honorable Mention. Senior Lucas Panebianco, who could not attend, also received All-Conference and was also named Scholar Athlete. The team also received their plaque for winning the conference.

However, the highlight of the night may have been when the boys received the Nassau County Sportsmanship Award, presented by the Referee's Association and awarded to only one team in the County based on the behaviors of the players, parents, and coaches respectively.
