Angel Mitchell, a third grade teacher at Stokes Elementary School in Levittown, recently beat out five other local teachers to win KJOY's teacher of the month contest.
Mitchell won a $500 Visa Gift Card compliments of the Kiddie Academy of Farmingdale and a $100 Gift Card to Salon Nouveau in Bellmore.
The other five teachers nominted were from Valley Stream, Cedahurst, Plainview, Lindenhurst and East Rockaway.
