The Levittown School District Board of Education held a reorganization meeting Wednesday evening to swear in the 2012-13 school year's official members.
Incumbent candidates Kevin Regan and Ed Powers ran unopposed in May's school board elections and were each sworn in for a new three year term. Board members also named Mike Pappas as president and Peter Porrazzo as vice president, making no changes from last year's panel.
On top of electing officials, Superintendent of Schools Dr. James Grossane
introduced a plan the board would like to implement in the coming year regarding re-registration of students in the district.
"There are certain junctures in a student's career where they have to re-register," he said. "This is something that guards the district in the longrun, protects the homeowner and makes sure people are still residing in our town."
Pappas agreed and said it's a much needed change for the district.
"It effects schools all over the country, not just Levittown, but it's in the best interest of the students, staff and community," he said.
The board will reconvene Wednesday, July 25 at 7:30 p.m.
