329 vote difference in unopposed BOE race. Considering Regan chose to put posters up and had his political sports groupies send out emails not endorsing his co BOE member OR THE BUDGET the number is as ridiculous as his ego. As Arnold Diaz would say, "SHAME SHAME SHAME...SHAME ON YOU!"

I wasn't aware that Regan did that. I find it amazing that the residents in Levittown voted for the budget to pass. I guess people are either unaware or they just don't care that the money will be going towards the staff not the kids.
MommaK May 16, 2012 at 02:19 am
Because staff funding is still under contract, voting no will not take money from the staff members.

Wow, 329 and he spent all that money for signs that were in every chamber of commerce store in town . If I were Mr. Power I would be upset, but I think Mr. Power is a bigger man and will take the high road.. Besides Mr Regan's signs, this year the landscape was not littered as usual with candidates signs from Levittown and Island Trees.
Mr. Regan's total number of votes, (and votes per dollar) was embarrassing. Looking back at the last 3 elections his total would not have earned him a seat in any of those elections. Last 2 years it would have been a distant third. The only time it would have gotten him on the board was way back when about 10 people ran for the board with Pappas Parrazo and the first Ward. A good judge of your bang for the buck is how many people voted yes for the budget and how many votes a candidate gets. Mr. Pappas either out scored the budget total or came real close both times. Even the new Ward and Parazzo came real close last year to the total budget without any signs or phone calls. Ms. Maranghi and Mr. Moran did the same when they ran, (but they had union support) I hope and pray that this little parlor trick pulled here is just an ego trip gone wild and the whole community gets over it. I am willing to forgive and forget. I hope it was not done for political reasons either. The board should not be democrat or republican. Lets move on and re-unite this town like never before!

Anyone complaining about Mr regan's tactics you do realize you can run. You all realize he ran unopposed? If you feel you can dedicate the time and provide the deidication required go run. Are we really going after a man who is donating his time and spent his money to run for the Board of Education? You people are pathetic. Go run for the board then critique.

BRAVO!! Well said.

Mac, you wane for an altruistic era.
For a certain board member, it is all political. This is fast becoming a platform for the ToH to get the supervisor and councilman votes. How else would you explain that with the exception of sen. shumer at the commencement ceremonies who just shows up, every invited politician is a republican? Using school events and resources for politics is wrong. School Boards are non political by law. One more thing, it its not your own money if a union big wig donates it to you. PS. You are normally a BOE basher with little exception. Why the change of heart? You with for the town??
Mac May 16, 2012 at 08:01 pm
What former Levittown boe member is using it for political gain. Name names and people should know. The republicans run the town and very rarely miss a photo op. Kate is the master at this. Why would a union big wig donate money when he was running unopposed. Once again put the name out there. I am not a boe basher but do firmly believe they are just as responsible for teacher contracts as the unions. I also not above of giving credit when deserved.

Mac Stop reading things that aren't there to make it appear that you know something. I didn't see the words former BOE member. You complained about Mary reading too much into things and that you didn't attack her. You put words in democrats mouth that weren't even written!
Then you go and say that's the republican way they run the town and Kate is a master---- seems like you are the quitter and throwing up your hands now. Turnabout is fair play I guess. You have a bad habit of stirring poop and then backing off and saying that you didn't. I think you did both times. And for the record, it was not fair what Mr.Reagan did to anyone. Not to Mr. Powers, not to the parents who got that email about keeping the soccer fields if he is elected and most of all for not even saying please support the budget in the email that should not have been legally sent anyway. I guess if you break one rule, why not break a few more!
Mac May 16, 2012 at 08:48 pm
Is everyone insane? I didn't attack Mary and apologized in the other post if she took it that way. How is saying Kate Murray who never turns down a photo op is untrue? I think her photos are a pretty common fact. Please explain how I threw up my hands.
Regarding mr regan if he did this it should be public knowledge not after the fact accusations. I still ask why would he do any of this if running unopposed? If anyone can tell me what I stirred up here I am all ears. I guess wanting to know what really happened not written in the article is wrong. I didn't see the words put together former boe member but Democrat did write " for a certain board member it is all political. This is fast becoming a platform for the toh to get th supervisor and councilman votes" was I wrong to ask which one? Are these not valid questions?

I just do not understand how people have the money to pay these school taxes. My husband and I have not had a raise in our jobs for four years.I am on a very tight household budget. Please tell me Levittown neighbors how can you afford to pay these school taxes?
Concerned American May 17, 2012 at 01:37 pm
All very valid questions-the TOH and their political machine has supported candidates in school, library, and fire commissioner elections, which only helps them as well. Some people running for the school board seem to have an agenda-soccer fields for their local leagues, etc. - however, not all-many seem to put in long hours striving to improve their districts. Tough to do when you have people on the boards with parochial agendas.
Mac May 17, 2012 at 01:54 pm
I would think that people would want to know who these people are before elections. In this case running unopposed it wouldnt have changed things. BUT, had people been aware before hand perhaps someone else may have ran. Being on the BOE should not be about political or personal gain.
