MacArthur Wrestling Begins It's Season

The MacArthur Generals opened up their season with the Annual MacArthur Holiday Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, December 1, 2012.  The Generals had a great tournament and took home the 1st Place team plaque followed by a tough Monsignor Farrell High School who finished in second place.  Mepham high school rounded out the top three.

The Generals finished the tough day with 7 finalists and crowned 4 individual champions at their respective weight classes.  Freshman, Travis Cooksey won his first varsity tournament at the 99lbs. weight class, while brother Justin Cooksey took home a 1st place medal at 126lbs.  Justin a 2012 New York State Tournament finalist was named Outstanding Wrestler for the tournament.  Senior,  Robbi Bennett and Junior, Steven Schneider found gold medals at 138lbs. and 160lbs weight classes.  Finalists Vincent Thron, Anthony Boccasini and Mike Marrero all had great starts to their season and took home 2nd place medals.

The MacArthur Generals wrestling program is looking to have another successful season in 2012-2013 and will focus on winning a Nassau County Dual Meet title and and Nassau County Championships team team as well.  The Generals compete next at the Mahopac Duals on December 8, 2012.  Good Luck Generals!
