Dear Island Trees School Community,
Similar to many other school communities on Long Island, Island Trees was forced to modify our school calendar due to Hurricane Sandy. Please remember school will be in session during February recess (Tuesday, Feb. 19 to Friday, Feb. 22) with the exception of Presidents’ Day, Monday, Feb. 18.
We understand many people believed New York State would “waive” missed days. New York State did not “waive” any of our lost school days; therefore, we changed our school calendar to meet New York State’s 180 day requirement.
In addition, please note Island Trees will be in session Monday, April 1 (the day after Easter) and Friday, May 24.
The calendar is still subject to change if we have further inclement weather days. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school office.
