Island Trees Girls Basketball Off to Impressive Start

Submitted by Charles Murphy, Island Trees Superintendent of Schools.

The 2012-13 Island Trees girls basketball season is well underway.  With an overall record of 6-4 and 4-1 in league play, the team continues to improve.

While on most nights the team is anchored by the excellent offensive talents of sophomore Brianna Wilson, it is truly a collective effort on the defensive side.  A tough, physical and aggressive group, the team consistently holds opposing teams to under 40 points in wins. In fact, a few weeks ago in a league game, they didn't allow Clarke High School a single point in the third quarter.

The team is at their best when they are moving the ball freely, as their unselfish play becomes contagious, producing winning basketball plays all over the court.  While they continue to take one game at a time, there is no doubt that a playoff appearance is anticipated.

Hopefully, their hard work and preparation will continue to produce positive results and have them primed for post season competitions.
