Levittown’s Bryan Verbitsky On Fire for Hofstra Baseball

The junior pitcher is having a breakout season and was named student athlete of the month for April.

Levittown native and Island Trees HS graduate Bryan Verbitsky is having a junior season to remember for the Hofstra baseball team.

Verbitsky, a criminology major, is currently 2-2 with three saves and a 1.67 ERA for the Pride. Even more impressive, Verbitsky has allowed just 13 hits in 27 innings, striking out 36 batters while walking only five.

For his outstanding efforts both and off the field, Verbitsky has been named Hofstra’s student-athlete of the month for April.

The Pride has won 16 of their last 22 games in due in large part to Bryan’s outstanding performances on the mound,” the school said in a press release.

At Island Trees, Verbitsky was a two-time Diamond Award winner as the top position player in Nassau County. He was named All-State as a junior and senior, helping the team win the county championship in 2007 and reaching the county finals in 2009.

This past summer, Verbitsky competed in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League,  where he made the All-Star Team playing for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox.
