Community Council to Welcome Meteorology Professor at Next Meeting

Professor will discuss the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and how to be better prepared in the future.

The Levittown Community Council announced that Assistant Professor of Meteorology Dr. Jeffrey Tongue will be the host at their next meeting on Monday, June 24 at 7:30 p.m.

"Could Long Islanders experience another superstorm like Sandy this year and will our experiences make us better prepared?" Tongue will discuss these topics and more at the meeting.

Tongue has taught meteorology at Suffolk Community College since 1998 and also teaches at SUNY Stony Brook. He's a native of Nassau County, has a Bachelors of Science degree from SUNY Oneonta and Masters of Science degree from Texas A&M University.

A retired Lieutenant Colonel, Tongue served for 24 years as an Air Force Officer, and has worked for the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration National Weather Service for over 20 years.

This meeting will be held in the large board room of the Memorial Education Center, 150 Abbey Lane, in Levittown.

Meetings of the Levittown Community Council are free and open to the public. Individuals and groups are welcomed.
