Levittown's Northside Elementary School to Hold Blood Drive Tuesday

Northside Elementary, located at 35 Pelican Road in Levittown, will be hosting their New York Blood Center blood drive on Tuesday, Feb. 5 from 3pm to 9pm.

The blood drive will take place in the gym of the school. To donate, you must be at least 110 lbs., aged 16 - 75, eat well (low fat) and drink fluids, and have had no tattoos for the past 12 months. Please also bring ID with photo or signature.

If you are 16 years old you must have parental permission and those 76 and over need a doctor's note.

To make an appointment, please call Jill Meyerowitz at 376-5806 and for medical eligibility call 1-800-688-0900.

"There is simply no substitute for voluntarily donated blood," the school stated on their website. "Without volunteer donors, our community would not have an adequate community blood supply."

"A Northside parent, who suffered a sudden onset of illness last year, required platlets," the school stated. "She expressed her overwhelming gratitude for the donation, and encouraged all of the Northside community to give the gift of blood donation, that she herself so desperately needed, so another might benefit as well."
