Under the direction of the Summit Lane Elementary School student council, generous families and staff recently donated toys to the John Theissen Children’s Foundation so that needy children will receive toys for the holidays.

The toy drive ran from Nov. 26 to Dec. 18, overflowing eight large bins with new toys and books.

Student council secretary Emily Fuchs was pleased to report on the success of this year's toy drive.

“This year’s donation was three times more than last school year and the highest amount of donations in the school’s history," Fuchs said.
