Winter weather arrives in the northeast Monday with a mix of snow, sleet and rain expected to hit the area.
Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch is possible with rain likely before 8 p.m., according to the
National Weather Service.The NWS has issued a special weather statement on the conditions:
"Light snow is expected to briefly mix with sleet early this afternoon before changing over to rain. However, with temperatures around or slightly below freezing...there could be a brief period of freezing light rain or drizzle before temperatures warm up."
The NWS warned drivers of the possibly of slippery roads this evening. Tuesday's forecast calls for a slight chance of showers, and showers likely on Wednesday.
