21 Places to Pick Pumpkins on Long Island Before They're Gone

Because carving potatoes just isn't much fun.

Whether you need them for decorating, carving or making a savory soup, the time to pick your pumpkins is rolling away this year. That's why we've created this guide, to give folks options before these seasonal super-squash are all gone.

Below you'll find a list of 21 pick-your-own pumpkin places across Long Island and eastern Queens. If we missed your favorite place, just add it to the comments section and we'll adjust our list.

1. Unitarian Universalist Church
223 Stewart Avenue, Garden City

The Great Pumpkin Patch returns to the Unitarian Universalist Church for another season. Nearly 6,000 pumpkins were delivered from the Navajo reservation in New Mexico. The sale is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Halloween, Oct. 31. Homemade baked goods will also be available for purchase, as will gourds and decorative corn. Admission to the patch is free.

2. Old Mill Nurseries 
1862 Newbridge Road, Bellmore 

Old Mill Nurseries sells a wide selection of plants and its staff helps design, cultivate and maintain clients' gardens. 

3. Merrick Flower Shoppe 
54 Merrick Ave, Merrick 

In addition to a huge selection of fresh flowers and plants, the florist sells pumpkins as well as .99 cent mini pumpkins. 

4. Martin Viette
6050 Northern Blvd, East Norwich

You’ll find an animal farm, fresh pressed cider, apples, pumpkins and squash, refreshments, carnival and games. Weekends, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. through Oct. 27.

5. Hicks Nursery
100 Jericho Turnpike, Westbury

At Hicks Nurseries you’ll find an animal farm, daily from 8 a.m.-6 p.m., through Oct. 31. Also on tap: hayrides down a path adorned with cartoon characters. Daily 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. And on display, “Otto and the Pirate Ship,” an animated story with life-size storybook scenes. Check the Hicks website for specific dates and times for additional fall events, including a pumpkin weigh-off and pumpkin-decorating workshops for children.

6. Queens County Farm
73-50 Little Neck Parkway, Glen Oak

The farm features plenty of autumn activities, including a pumpkin patch on weekends, and on Oct. 27, a children’s fall festival complete with pony rides.

7. Schmitt's Farm 
26 Pinelawn Road, Melville 

Pumpkin picking, corn maze and hayrides at F.W. Schmitt's family farm. 

8. Better-Gro Garden Center
149 Sunrise Highway, Lindenhurst

Small pumpkin patch selection with all sizes readily available.

9. Woodside Nursery & Garden Center 
131 E Woodside Ave., Patchogue 

Pumpkin picking along with a Haunted Tunnel and outdoor exhibit titled "Octobercation" is available. Admission for the tunnel and exhibit is $2.50. 

10. Country Fair Entertainment Park 
3351 Route 112, Medford

Pumpkin picking is one activity among hayrides and crafts at the entertainment park's Fall Festival. Festival takes place on select weekends in October. Those looking for information on pumpkin sales can call the park's Sales Office at 631-732-0579. Pumpkins are priced at $2.25 each. 

11. Harbes Family Farm
1223 Main Rd/Route 25, Jamesport

A farm with pumpkins in the patch perfect for picking. Go on an adventure in a Robin Hood themed Corn Maze or catch a ride on the hay ride around the pumpkin fields. For a more spooky experience, take a trek through our Spooky Corn Maze.

12. Lewins Farm Stand
812 Sound Avenue, Wading River

Lewins offers pick-your-own pumpkins, a corn maze, roasted corn and much more.

13. Stakey's
270 West Lane, Aquebogue

Staykey's offers pick-your-own pumpkins at a $25 all you can carry fee. The farm also features a corn maze and other family friendly activities.

14. Gabrielsen's Country Farm
1299 Main Road (Route 25), Jamesport

Gabrielsen's Country Farm offers pick-your-own pumpkins, a corn maze and other family friendly activities.

15. Fink's Country Farm
6242 Middle Country Road, Wading River

Fink's offers pumpkin picking, hay rides, a corn maze, pig races and animal farm and other family friendly activities.

16. Helen's Pumpkin Farm
987 Union Avenue, Riverhead

Helen's farm offers pick-your-own pumpkins, a corn maze, wagon and pony rides, as well as a bouncy house.

17. Windy Acres Farms
3810 Middle Country Road, Calverton

Windy Acres offers pick-your-own-pumpkins, horse-drawn hay rides, pony rides and many more family friendly activities.

18. Greenland Family Farms
17155 County Road 48, Cutchogue

The family-owned farm offers hayrides on the weekends and pumpkin picking.

19. Hank's Pumpkintown
324 County Road 39, Southampton

Hank's Pumpkintown has pumpkin picking, apple picking, corn mazes, wagon rides,and playgrounds while the new market has freshly baked pies, cookies, cup cakes, candy apples, cider donuts and much more.

20. Krupski's Vegetable & Pumpkin Farm
38030 Route 25, Peconic

U-pick pumpkins, haunted corn maze, haunted barn and hay rides.

21. Wickham Fruit Farms
700 Main Road, Cutchogue

Along with a variety of fruits and apples, Wickham's offers pumpkins, hay rides, and a seven-acre corn maze. Other fun activities include pumpkin carving, a pumpkin drop, and guess the weight of the pumpkin.
