Mr. Zirogiannis needs to follow the money and see what Common Core is really all about--the highRead More stakes testing is the death of public education--all about corporate greed!!!
Long Islander May 5, 2013 at 07:49 am
I also forgot to mention that the Common Core test do not have state or local input. That means yourRead More school district has not input on these tests! Time to wake up the voters!

Why would anyone support Common Core testing? These tests were founded and funded by Bill Gates. ItRead More also collects data on your child and teacher and can be shared with other sources! Why would anyone support this testing! Two incumbents will be running against a newcomer in this year's Levittown School District trustee election.

Isn't there a rule that a board member has to attend a certain amount of meetings? Mr. PatchRead More Editor, can you ask the district for both of the incumbents attendance at meetings records for us? I am about as sure as the sun will rise that one of them would get left back if they were a student with all of the absences!!

Maxwell, we all know about the scam now...Thanks. It mightRead More be time to change America's educational system by promoting Voucher Programs.

Iggy, sorry to be he party pooper here lol. The board looks like they are trying to line expenseRead More accounts up where each year you would be able to see exactly where the increases are. Most schools bury expenses under broad expense account names. Did you knopw that until recently, the teachers stipend for doing their 1 mandated duty period per day in the cafeteria instead of the halls was buried under students clubs so that nobody would realize that we were paying 66k a year per MS/ HS for this surcharge? I think when the board uncovers these things they demand or they must demand that it be separated so that the taxpayers can spot the scam!
Iggy April 29, 2013 at 05:17 pm
Thanks for the information Maxwell - so basically even the information the Board is providing on itsRead More website is not comparing apples to apples information. What I believe you are saying is that it comes down to district negotiations with the teachers union for any kind of concessions or any savings for us taxpayers. I guess I was trying to be more optimistic that other areas in the budget could be looked into for further cuts to help save these teachers.
How Much Is That College In The Window?

Right you are, Mary. Which only goes to prove that, the more you ask, the more you will find out.Read More And an educated student is a college's best consumer! Thanks for reading, and for posting.

Here's how you can tell how accurate an estimate from a college's net price calculator is: if itRead More asks 30 to 40 questions (financial and academic) then your aid eligibility, net price and out-of-pocket cost estimates will be accurate. And these are easy and fast to use - taking 10 to 12 minutes to answer. About 1,500 colleges posted sophisticated NPCs that are based on current costs and use algorithms to reliable create personalized estimates. Unfortunately, the majority of post-secondary schools built their NPCs on a federal template that is based on two-year-old cost information, doesn't follow the federal formula for estimating need, and uses need questions to estimate merit aid. NPCs based on the federal template ask 12 or fewer questions.

Wondering why Division although the only other HS in district would not equal. Thoughts?
