A look at the history of Levittown.
Throughout the post-WWII years, it became something of a truism that the average Levittowner was from somewhere else. How long Levittown remained peopled by folks from away is difficult to say because the Baby Boom quickly created a native-born population. Indeed, between 1947 and 1957, St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church celebrated an astonishing 7,345 baptisms. Very few …

School board trustee is up for his second three-year term.
Town of Hempstead Deputy Commissioner Kevin Regan was elected to the Levittown School District Board of Education three years ago with hopes of bringing some positive change to the community he's called home for more than four decades. Lin I think there are 8 directors, asst superintendents and superindentents combined. For a corporation this size to run with that small of a senior staff I don't think that is too bad. Also our new guy is paid almost the same as the people that report to him. You are right taxes are growing like crazy, but unless you do more about pension and medical you will never solve the problem. $100K even …   more ›
