County, Town of Hempstead Announce Snow Closures

Nassau County and the Town of Hempstead have announced several closures ahead of the winter storm. 

County Executive Ed Mangano announced the closing of all County park activities to the public starting Thursday at 3 p.m. Mangano also announced that visiting hours at the Nassau County Correctional Center are cancelled for today and tomorrow.  

In the Town of Hempstead, all town parks will be closed to the public beginning 2 p.m. on Thursday.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced that highways such as the Long Island Expressway and state parkways could be closed ahead of the storm. 

The National Weather Service on Wednesday afternoon issued a blizzard warning, in effect from 6 p.m. Thursday until 1 p.m. Friday, for all of Long Island. Snow accumulation of six to 10 inches is expected.
